- COMPANY: bKing Abdullah University of Science and Technology
- LOCATION: null, Saudi Arabia
- Studying (ultrafast) dynamics of energy and electron transfer processes in photocatalytic systems
- Analyzing and interpreting time-resolved spectroscopy measurements, developing photophysical models to describe reaction dynamics, and applying advanced data analysis tools such as multivariate curve resolution
- Contributing to joint projects with internal and external collaborators, working towards completion of objectives
- Dissemination of research results in project meetings, peer-reviewed journals, and at international conferences
- Maintaining and advancing existing, and developing novel ultrafast laser spectroscopy setups
Required Qualifications
The candidate should ideally have a Ph.D. degree in physics or physical chemistry or a closely related field. Experience previously obtained during Ph.D./postdoctoral research in the field of time-resolved optical spectroscopy of photocatalytic systems is inevitable; applications from applicants without such experience are discouraged. Knowledge of the photophysics and photochemistry of organic and hybrid materials is a given. The research requires a high level of experimental skills and involves the operation of sophisticated ultrafast laser systems such as femtosecond amplifiers/oscillators, LC TOPAS, OPOs, and (home-built) NOPAs. The ability to design and execute spectroscopic experiments and to interpret spectroscopic data are required. Expertise with LabView, MatLab, and Origin data analysis software is an advantage.
The candidate will join an interdisciplinary and very international Research Center and a highly cooperative team, and therefore, should be willing to work in a team environment. The candidate should have a strong sense of personal responsibility, high motivation to perform both curiosity-driven and goal-oriented research, scientific excellence, and flexibility to work and deliver results.
KAUST benefits for postdoctoral fellows
KAUST offers a highly competitive salary compared to international standards. Additional benefits include housing, medical and dental insurance, K-12 education for dependent children (subject to availability), relocation allowance, and repatriation allowance. The candidate will enjoy the multicultural experience of KAUST located at the shores of the Red Sea, in an international research group and Research Center with outstanding state-of-the-art facilities for materials’ characterization including advanced ultrafast spectroscopy laboratories.
Application Deadline: April 30, 2021
Position Duration: 2 years (prolongation is possible)
